This year in Gatineau – 2019 we had a silver experience at our MBAC Championships. Tournament Ladies, Tournament Men, Tim Wiseman, the Tournament Single, and Davina Cassie, the Teaching Ladies Single all won silver medals.

Tournament Division Results – Tournament #1 & 2
The results of the first two tournaments in the tournament division for the 2019-2020 season are as follows:
Dianne Violini continues to win. She won her 54th tournament with a total 2121 at our first tournament of the year on October 19. Kelsy Wilton won the second tournament on October 20 with a total of 2249. This is her fifth tournament win.
Mike Lacoursiere won the first tournament with a total of 2382. This was his sixth win.
Tim Wiseman won the second tournament making this his fifth win. He rolled a total of 2410.

Teaching Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2
The first and second teaching division tournaments are complete.
Tournament #1- September 29, 2019
Congratulations go out to Adrienne Marquardt from Edmonton on winning in the North Teaching Ladies division with a +347. She is a new master member, she joined this year.
Natasha Tanke of Leduc won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +266.
On the men’s side, Martinho Marciano of Edmonton won the Teaching Men’s North division with a +436.
Nick Thomson of Airdrie was a winner in the South division with +356.
Tournament #2 – November 3, 2019
Remie Spencer from Lloydminister bowled a +252 to win the North Teaching Ladies division.
Bonnie Malmas from Rocky Mountain House won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +366.
Aaro Roeske from Edmonton had +250 and won the Teaching Men’s North division.
Daniel Price rolled a +316 in the Teaching Men’s South division.
Senior Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2
Tournament #1 – September 29, 2019
The Senior’s POA Division was won by Gerry Anderson of Edmonton. Gerry rolled a +444.
Tom Stevenson had his 10th win as a Master with 2082 in the Senior Scratch Division.
Tournament #2 – November 3, 2019
The Senior’s POA Division was won by Monique Mallard of Edmonton. Monique rolled a +155.
Tom Stevenson won again this tournament. His eleventh win. He bowled a 2035 in the Senior Scratch division.

New Life Time Members
We would like to congratulate the following bowlers on reaching 25 years of membership with the Master Bowlers’ Association of Alberta:

Coaching Upgrade Information
To be eligible to be a National Coach, you must be certified Level II with Competition
Coach upgrade or Competition Coach certified by December 31, 2019. It is recommended that you complete the ‘Respect in Sport’ module.

A Reminder to all to New Bowlers
To be eligible to participate on a National team, you must have taken a Community Sport Initiation Clinic prior to December 31st of the current bowling season. Many clinics have taken place in September and October. Let Brian Sudbury know if you would like to take a clinic so that you could qualify.
Teaching Masters’ Provincial Final
Please note that the finals for the teaching masters will be bowled at Holiday Bowl in Lethbridge, March 14 & 15, 2020. Each of the tournaments will start at 9:00 am.
Seniors’ Provincial Final
The provincial finals for seniors will be bowled at Bronx Bowl in Edmonton on March 14 & 15, 2020. The starting times for the seniors are 10:00 am om March 14 and 9:00 am on March 15.
Testimonials Wanted
We are working on making a poster to promote the benefits of the Master Bowling Association of Alberta. We would like testimonials from members who enjoy our organization and/or who have gone to nationals to advertise on our poster or on our website.
Casino Volunteers Required
The time has come again to ask for volunteers for our next casino being held June 25 & 26, 2020 at The Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary. We have various positions available from Banker, Count Room Supervisor, Cashier, Chip Runner and Count Room Staff. Working at our casino is vitally important to the sustainability of our organization. This is a major source of funds that enables us to support YBC programs and assist us with travel to National events.
The 2019 Nationals will be held in St. John, Newfoundland from June 29, 2019 – July 4, 2019. The participants will be flying out on June 27 and returning July 4, 2019.
