Tournament Division Results – 5th and 6th Tournaments

The tournament division men and ladies have completed their final tournaments.

Congratulations are going out to Halea Pederson who won the 5th tournament with a score of 2181. This is Halea’s first MBA of A Tournament Victory!!

In the 5th tournament on the men’s side, Matt Schultz won his 8th tournament with a score of 2221.

Jennifer Baker won the 6th tournament and collected her 9th win with a 2267.

Derek Home won his first tournament with a score of 2317. Great bowling everyone!

Congratulations to the following Tournament Division bowlers who have now qualified for Nationals:

Ladies singles representative is Jennifer Baker of Edmonton.

The men’s singles representative is Tim Wiseman of Sherwood Park.

The ladies team is made up of Jennifer Smith, Halea Pederson, Heidi Mapstone, Shauna Pirie-Laisnez and Bonnie McDonald. Coaching the ladies will be Geoff Wilson.

The tournament men’s team consists of Derek Home, Gary Baird, Gene Ziebarth, Matt Schultz, and Karie Kreutz. The men’s coach will be Harvie Pocza.

Congratulations to everyone and best of luck to all of you heading to the Nationals in Surrey, B.C. from June 28-July 3, 2016!!

Teaching and Senior Division Results – 4th Tournament

Shannon Roden of Sherwood Park won the 4th North Division Ladies tournament with a +100.
In the South, Karissa Waisman of Red Deer won her first tournament with a +293!!

On the men’s side, Jesse Bouchard of Spruce Grove won his 2nd tournament with a +191. Not only did Jesse win the tournament, he achieved something that most of us only dream of. Jesse bowled a perfect game during the tournament. Many congratulations to you Jesse on this incredible accomplishment!!

In the South, Paul St. Yves of Drumheller won with a +174.

In the Senior POA Division, Linda Seitz of Ponoka won with a +312. Great bowling Linda!

In the Senior Scratch Division, Brian Rossetti won his 2nd tournament as Master Bowler of Alberta, his 1st as a Senior, with a score of 1922!

Congratulations to all of the Teaching and Senior Division winners! Best of luck to everyone at the upcoming Provincials.

Remember, if your name appears above the black line on the results sheet, you have qualified for Provincials.

If you cannot attend, please let your Tournament Director know. This makes it much easier for setting up the tournament.

Upcoming Teaching and Senior Division Provincials

With the Teaching and Senior Division Provincials just around the corner, here are a couple of reminders.

PLEASE NOTE that the Teaching Division will be starting at 12:30 on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Heritage Lanes in Red Deer. This is half an hour earlier than is indicated on the schedule.

Rhod has asked that you please check in for the Teaching Division by 12:15.

The cost for both Teaching and Senior Divisions will be $90.00 for the weekend, regardless of your age.

Please remember that if you qualify for the National Team, you will be required to purchase 2 elimination draw tickets so bring a bit of extra cash to take care of this. Thank you.

Coaching Resumes

The deadline for resumes for Teaching and Senior divisions is before the first ball is thrown on the last day of the Provincial tournament.

Please forward your resumes to your Provincial Teaching Division or Provincial Senior Division Director, or to the MBA of A office.

Assessment Fee for Non-Participating Masters

Please note that any non-participating Master who wishes to coach at the National level will be required to pay a $300.00 assessment fee.

Adult All Events Tournament and Annual Youth Scholarship Tournament

Bowl Alberta is hosting their annual All Events tournament on the weekend of April 15-17, 2016 at Chinook Bowladrome in Calgary. This is a scratch/handicap tournament including singles, doubles, and 4 player teams. This tournament is for adults and is much the same format as the Youth Scholarship Tournament.

Bowl Alberta is also holding their annual Youth Scholarship Tournament. This is to be held May 20-22, 2016 at Bonnie Doon Lanes in Edmonton. This tournament is a scratch/handicap event, including singles, doubles, and 3 player teams.

Youth Camp Notice

The Alberta Youth Bowling Camp will be held from August 11-14, 2016 at Kings’ University and Bonnie Doon Lanes in Edmonton. If you are interested in coaching or assisting with the Youth Camp, please contact Grady Long in Edmonton at 780-499-1266 or download the coach’s application form at bowlab.ca and click on the results tab.

Registration forms for the bowlers and coaches are available at your local bowling center, as well as posted on the BPA website at bowlab.ca

Bowler registration forms for the Youth Camp are also available on the BPA website.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Kerry
Wood Nature Centre in Red Deer. (6300 45 Avenue, Red Deer – 403-346-2010)

If you are planning on attending the AGM and are using your GPS to find it, it will not likely recognize Kerry Wood Nature Centre. Please use Waskasoo Park as your destination for GPS purposes.
