Scratch Division – Ken Malcomson of Medicine Hat had a 2190 to pick up the win in the Seniors Scratch division.

Tournament Division

The tournament division has now completed their 3rd and 4th tournaments.

The ladies third tournament winner was Melynda Bruneau of Calgary with a 2136. This is Melynda’s first tournament victory. Congratulations!

The winners of the fourth ladies tournament were Alyssa Batchelor of Calgary and Dianne Violini of Lethbridge. These ladies tied with a score of 2112. This is Alyssa’s first tournament win with the Masters, and Dianne’s 49th!!

In the men’s division, Dexter Wiseman of Sherwood Park won the third tournament, and his 2nd Master’s tournament, with a score of 2243.

Matt Schultz of Sherwood Park took the fourth tournament in the men’s division
with a score of 2151. This is Matt’s 5th tournament victory.

Senior Division Provincials

The dates for the Senior Division Provincials are Saturday, April 6, 2013, and Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Paradise Lanes in Calgary. The start times will be Saturday @ 3:00 p.m. and Sunday @ 9:00 a.m. Paradise Lanes are located at 3411 17 Avenue SE. The phone number there is 403-272-4570.

Teaching Division Provincial Information

The Teaching Division Provincials are being held at Chinook Bowaldrome in Calgary on Saturday, April 6, 2013 @ 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 7, 2013 @ 9:00 a.m. Chinook Bowladrome is located at 6455 Macleod Trail South. The phone number there is 403-252-5747.

Fran Clarke has been negotiating with The Delta Calgary South Hotel and they are offering a rate of $139/night (plus taxes) for the Provincial weekend. There are currently 10 rooms blocked so if you are interested in booking there, you may want to do that fairly soon. Coaching Resumes

This is a reminder to get your coaching resumes updated. The deadline for resumes for Teaching and Senior divisions is before the first ball is thrown on the last day of the Provincial tournament.

The deadline for the Tournament division is before the first ball is thrown on the morning of the final tournament.

Volunteers Required for 2013 Nationals – Calgary

We are still recruiting volunteers for the 2013 Nationals being held in Calgary from June 29, 2013-July 4, 2013. If you are interested there are still a number of positions available where the committee could use some help. Please contact Maureen Atkinson at 403-254-5852 to get on the volunteer list.

Assessment Fee for Non-Participating Masters

Please note that any non-participating Master who wishes to coach at the National level will be required to pay a $300.00 assessment fee. 

Master/YBC Tournament

The annual Master/YBC Provincial tournament is being held on March 17, 2013 at Heritage Lanes in Red Deer. This is a great event that gives our youth bowlers a glimpse at what being a Master is all about.

Teams are made up of a bantam, junior and senior YBC bowler as well as a Master bowler. We need Masters from all divisions to support this tournament!!

Entry information has been sent to the bowling centers and your proprietors should be running house rounds in the near future. Please take the time to check it out and join in. It really is a lot of fun for those who get involved!!

Website Changes

For those of you who check out information on our website, http://www.mbaofa.ca, you may have noticed that it has changed. That is because we have a new website “manager”. We would like to thank Mark Polivchuk of Calgary for taking on this task.

Stacy Green of Lethbridge was the original developer and webmaster of our MBA of A website over 10 years ago. We wish to thank Stacy for his generous contribution of time and knowledge in getting our website up and running and also for maintaining it. Stacy had made numerous changes and upgrades to the website as the years passed, always making it a better and more informative site!

AGM Date

The date for this year’s AGM is Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre in Red Deer (6300 45 Avenue, Red Deer – 403-346-2010).

National Dates

The dates for the 2013 Master’s Nationals are from June 29-July 4, 2013 in Calgary. June 29 & July 4 are travel days.
