Tournament Division Results – Tournament #1 & 2

Madison Jenkins of Lethbridge won the first tournament with a total of 2324.  Maria Dalton of Calgary won the second tournament on October 26th with a total of 2127. This was the first win for both ladies and first year as a Master Bowler of Alberta!

Derek Home of Calgary won the first tournament with a total of 2466.  This was Derek’s fourth win.  Matt Schultz of Sherwood Park won the second tournament.  He rolled a total of 2350. This was his eleventh win.

The tournament division bowled their first tournaments at Bonnie Doon Lanes in Edmonton and the second one was bowled at Sherwood Bowl in Sherwood Park on October 25th and 26th.  

Congratulations to all.  Great bowling!

Teaching Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2

The first and second teaching division tournaments are complete.

Tournament #1- September 21, 2025.

Congratulations go out to Adrienne Marquardt from Edmonton on winning in the North Teaching Ladies division with a +333.  Adrienne has been a member for 5 years.

Sam Leavitt of Rocky Mountain House won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +267. Sam is a twenty- year member.

On the men’s side, Matthew Kociuba of St. Albert won the Teaching Men’s North division with a +307.   Matthew has been a master for 2 years.

Chris Herrmann of Medicine Hat was a winner in the South division with +307.  Chris has been a member for 3 years. 

Tournament #2 – November 2, 2025

Eva White from Edmonton bowled a +234 to win the North Teaching Ladies division.  Eva has reached 5 years of service.

Brandy Werdal from Red Deer Count won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +195.  She is a three-year master.

Thomas Tomkins from Grande Prairie had +364 and won the Teaching Men’s North division.  Matthew has been a member for two years

Nicolas St-Laurent rolled a +278 in the Teaching Men’s South division.  Nicolas is from Airdrie and has been a master for four years.

Senior Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2

Tournament #1 – September 21, 2025

The Senior’s POA Division was won by Gwen Bonik of Edmonton with a +513. Gwen is a 20-year member.

Steve Cummings of St. Albert has won the Senior Scratch Division with 2333.   Steve has come back to Master’s after a long absence.  He is now a six-year member.

Tournament #2 – November 2, 2025

The Senior’s POA Division was won by Mark Shipka of Lac La Biche.  Mark has 24 years of service and he bowled a +187.

Craig Miller from Edmonton won this tournament with a 2107 in the Senior Scratch division.  This is Craig’s tenth year as a Master Bowler.

Master Youth Tournament 2025

The 2025 Master Youth Tournament was once again a great success. It was held in Calgary at Paradise Lanes on October 25th and 26th.
There were 2 full shifts of 18 teams and one shift with 19 teams, 55 teams in total. Fourteen teams were paid out, with 1st being $900, $300 each. 

Overall, it was a massive success. Congratulations to all the participants!

We would like to congratulate Carol Bailey of Grande Prairie and Shannon Roden of Sherwood on reaching 25 years of membership with the Master Bowlers Association of Alberta.

   A Reminder to all to New Bowlers

To be eligible to participate on a national team, you must have taken a Community Sport Initiation Clinic prior to December 31st of the current bowling season.   A virtual clinic will be taking place December 13, 2025.  Let Heidi Mapstone  (heidimapstone@gmail.com) know if you would like to take this clinic so that you could qualify.    
Teaching Masters’ Provincial Final

Please note that the finals for the teaching masters will be bowled in Edmonton on March 14 (Bronx Bowl) and 15 (Bonnie Doon Lanes), 2026.  The tournaments begin at 9:00 am. 

Seniors’ Provincial Final

The provincial finals for seniors will be bowled at Bonnie Doon Lanes in Edmonton on March 14 & 15, 2026. The starting times for the seniors are 12:00 pm on March 14 and 9:00 am on March 15.

Coaching

A new feature of the newsletter will be some interesting articles to support coaches.  This link will take you to advice and ideas of how to coach children.  The article is how Europeans coach children.

Dianne Violini Inducted to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame



We are so pleased to announce that Dianne Violini, a Master Bowler, has been inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.  She is one of Alberta’s most decorated five-pin bowlers.  She is only the second person that has been inducted into the Hall of Fame in the Bowling Category.  At a ceremony held on September 27, 2025 she was officially inducted.

We Would like to Announce our new Traditional Shirts!!

What’s different?
As you can see, our shirts are a little different.  We are unable to get the same material to make our shirts so we went a whole new direction.  All the badges are now printed directly on the
shirt they have the correct size and any alterations directly on the shirt.  You will let Bradson know what level coach you at and it will be on the shirt. (Bradson will be checking with us to confirm your level.)
 
You will be ordering the shirt directly from Bradson.  They will take your order and payment. They will confirm with you before making the that must be done.
 The cost of the shirt is $105 plus GST, Shipping and Handling.
What’s the same?
You must be a current member of Master Bowlers’ Association to order the shirt.  (Bradson will be confirming with the office to make sure of that.)
The colour is close to the previous shirt.
***The previous shirt is still considered appropriate to wear to the nationals and will remain so until no one has one left.  We still have a few of the previous model for sale at a bargain price of $70.  You need to check with the office to see if we have your size. ***
