Tournament Division Results – Tournament #1 & 2

Jennifer Smith of Calgary won the first tournament with a total of 2197.  This is her twenty-ninth win.  Bonnie McDonald of Lac La Biche won the second tournament on October 6th with a total of 2273.  This is Bonnie’s twelfth win.

Dexter Wiseman of Edmonton won the first tournament with a total of 2381.  This was Dexter’s ninth win.  Derek Home of Calgary won the second tournament.  He rolled a total of 2378. This was his third win.

The tournament division bowled their first tournaments at Paradise Lanes and the second one was bowled at Toppler Bowl on October 5th and 6th.  Both of these houses are in Calgary.

Teaching Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2

The first and second teaching division tournaments are complete.

Tournament #1- September 22, 2024

Congratulations go out to Jamie Grant from Lloydminster on winning in the North Teaching Ladies division with a +166.  Jaimie has been a member for three years.

Tamara Borley of Rocky Mountain House won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +358. Tamara is a five-year member.

On the men’s side, Jonathan Bowden of Edmonton won the Teaching Men’s North division with a +428.   Jonathan has been a master for 11 years.

Rob Carbrey of Calgary was a winner in the South division with +323.  Rob has been a member for 11 years. 

Tournament #2 – November 3, 2024

Rhiannon Bradley from Grande Prairie bowled a +234 to win the North Teaching Ladies division.  This is Rhiannon’s first year as a Master Bowler.

Bonnie Engelking from Leduc won the South Teaching Ladies tournament with a +296.  Bonnie won the second tournament last year as well.

Efren Manzano from Grande Prairie had +247 and won the Teaching Men’s North division.  He is a first-year master.

Gary Sandercock rolled a +218 in the Teaching Men’s South division.  Gary is from Leduc and has been a master for four years.

Senior Division Results – Tournament #1 & #2

Tournament #1 – September 22, 2024

The Senior’s POA Division was won by Ken Malcomson of Medicine Hat with a +344.  Ken is a life-time member.  He has been a member for 34 years.

Rick Heinrich of Calgary has won the Senior Scratch Division with 2065.  This is Rick’s first year bowling as an Alberta Master Bowler.  

Tournament #2 – November 3, 2024

The Senior’s POA Division was won by Darryl Bailey of Fort Saskatchewan.  Darryl is a returning master from many years ago and he rolled a +248. 

Brian Rossetti from Bragg Creek won this tournament with a 1960 in the Senior Scratch division.  This was his 10th win as a Master. He has won 9 times as a senior.

Master Youth Tournament 2024

The 2024 Master Youth Tournament was once again a great success. It was held in Calgary at Paradise Lanes on October 26th and 27th.
There were 3 full shifts of 18 teams, 54 teams in total. Fourteen teams were paid out, with 1st being $900, $300 each. Kole Pasko (Ryan Pasko’s son) on the winning team bowled his first ever 300 (353) in the final game to win the gold!

Overall, it was a massive success. Congratulations to all the participants!

We would like to congratulate Debbie Boswell of Calgary, Verna Erickson of Sedgewick, Eric Anderson of Redcliff and David Cervo of Fort MacLeod on reaching 25 years of membership with the Master Bowlers Association of Alberta. We appreciate your 25 years of service to the association. 
New Lane Agent Found and More Are Needed 
A big thank you goes out to Robert Gallagher for stepping into the position of Lane Agent for the central region.  We really appreciate it.We are looking for 2 lane agents in Edmonton to help Martinho Marciano and one in Grande Prairie.  Please contact Ryan Pasko (mbaofatd@gmail.com ) or Martinho Marciano (marmgm@live.ca) if you are able to help us out. 

A Reminder to all to New Bowlers

To be eligible to participate on a national team, you must have taken a Community Sport Initiation Clinic prior to December 31st of the current bowling season.   A virtual clinic will be taking place November 30, 2024.  Let Ryan Pasko ( mbaofatd@gmail.com ) know if you would like to take this clinic so that you could qualify.

Teaching Masters’ Provincial Final

Please note that the finals for the teaching masters will be bowled in Medicine Hat Alberta on March 15 and 16, 2025.  The tournaments begin at 9:00 am.

Seniors’ Provincial Final

The provincial finals for seniors will be bowled at Bowling Depot in Calgary on March 8 & 9, 2025. The starting times for the seniors are 12:00 pm on March 8 and 9:00 am on March 9.

Please contact your zone director to let them know if you plan on bowling in the next tournament, January 5, 2025.
